Check these before you call

  1. Make sure the clock isn’t flashing and the oven isn’t set to delayed start or a Sabbath mode.
  2. Electric ranges use a double breaker; check it. On gas, make sure the valve behind the range is open.
  3. For a burner that won’t light, lift off the cap, let it dry fully, and reseat it squarely.
  4. Note any error code and the model number, usually on the frame behind the storage drawer or oven door.

Questions

My gas oven takes a while to light. Is that normal?
A short delay is normal: the igniter has to glow hot before the gas valve opens. If it takes several minutes, or never lights, the igniter is usually weak.
Is self-clean safe on an older oven?
Self-clean runs the oven extremely hot, which is hard on thermal fuses and control boards in older ranges. If yours is getting on in years, a gentler cleaning method is the safer choice.
Do you repair cooktops and wall ovens?
Yes: gas, electric coil and glass-top cooktops, plus single and double wall ovens.
