Check these before you call

  1. Pull out the filter at the bottom of the tub and rinse it under the tap.
  2. Make sure the spray arms spin freely and their holes aren’t blocked.
  3. If a garbage disposal was just installed, its drain knockout plug may still be in place.
  4. Run the kitchen tap until it’s hot before you start a cycle.
  5. Note the model number on the edge of the door or the side of the tub.

Questions

How often should I clean the filter?
About once a month for most households, more often if plates go in unscraped.
Why does my dishwasher smell?
Food trapped in the filter and drain. Clean the filter and run a hot cycle with the dishwasher empty.
Is it worth repairing?
Most dishwasher repairs, such as a pump, valve, latch or gasket, are modest parts. If the tub is cracked or rusted through, replacement usually makes more sense.
